Marsupial Delivery of a Toughbot by a Talon robot Marsupial Delivery of a Toughbot by a Talon robot
Posted by: aferworn

Video duration: 136 seconds

Filmed at the first NIST/DHS robot evaluation exercise at "Disaster City" Texas in 2006. The Talon carries a Toughbot and drops it into a hole in a roof. The Toughbot was broken but we set it up to show the utility of marsupial delivery of robots in usar environments.

Video duration: 144 seconds

AirRobot is a small quad-rotor UAV that can be employed for USAR reconnaissance. It has good loiter time, is simple to operate and is highly versatile. It can carry a number of sensors but probably has immediate application in providing a stable bird's eye view of an incident site. video taken during the 2007 NIST/DHS Response Robot evaluation exercise at Disaster City, Texas

Video duration: 123 seconds

This small, tossable, wireless and man-packable robot is in extensive use by U.S. Forces for activities like under-vehicle inspection and local surveillance. The device has applicability in USAR environments where human entry may be precluded and rubble is light. This could mean the periphery of a collapse or perhaps being thrown into an upper story for further inspection of the structure.

Video duration: 169 seconds

The Eyeball is a self-righting, throwable, spinning camera system initially intended for special operations but with application in USAR. It is tough, weighs about the same as a baseball and is easy to deploy.
The device should probably receive a coat of florescent paint before deployment or you may not find it again.
